I have more NeeDoh squishies than I actually need, but these are the four I keep reaching for right now: Nice Cube, Cloud Pleaser, Gumdrop, and Nice Berg.
They look similar enough online that it can be hard to tell which one you would actually prefer. In person, the differences are much more obvious. The shape, skin thickness, size, and amount of resistance completely change how each one feels.
Nice Cube
Nice Cube is still the one I use most.
The cube shape sounds like a small detail, but it matters. It stays where I put it instead of rolling around my desk, and I can grab it with one hand without looking away from what I’m doing.
The filling also has a strange two-part feel that I really like. If I squeeze it slowly, it gives way easily and takes its time returning to a cube. Press it quickly and it feels much denser. That change in resistance makes it more interesting than a very soft squishy that feels the same every time.
Mine usually lives on my desk. It is quiet, small enough not to get in the way, and I can use it absent-mindedly while reading or working.
There is one annoying part. The surface picks up dust, hair, and tiny bits of whatever happens to be nearby fairly quickly. Mine needs a wash every so often. Once it is clean again, the surface feels much better.
If I could keep only one NeeDoh for everyday use, I would pick the Nice Cube.
Cloud Pleaser
Cloud Pleaser is probably the prettiest NeeDoh I own.
The pearlescent surface actually changes as you move and squeeze it, so I catch myself looking at it almost as much as using it. The cloud shape also sits comfortably across my palm without any sharp corners or awkward edges.
It does not feel exactly like a Nice Cube, though. The outer skin on mine feels a little thicker, which gives it more resistance. If you want something extremely soft and almost liquid-feeling, I would not choose this one first.
I like that extra resistance, especially combined with the shape, but Cloud Pleaser is more of a desk object for me than an everyday fidget. I squeeze it less often than the cube, yet I like having it sitting there.
This is the one I would pick if appearance matters almost as much as the actual squeeze.
Gumdrop
Gumdrop is the easiest of these four to carry around.
It fits neatly into my hand, takes up very little room in a bag, and the candy-like shape makes it feel different from the usual round or cube-shaped stress toys.
Mine also has a slightly bumpy texture. That gives my fingers something to feel even when I am not squeezing it very hard, which I prefer to a completely smooth surface when I am carrying something around.
The resistance sits somewhere in the middle for me. It is not as dense as Nice Cube, but it also does not collapse immediately in your hand. The slow return is noticeable without making it feel heavy.
Gumdrop is also one of the NeeDoh squishies I am most comfortable recommending to someone who has never tried one before. There is nothing complicated about it. It is small, cute, easy to use, and usually less of a commitment than buying one of the larger models.
If I were buying a small NeeDoh as a gift, this would probably be my first choice.
Nice Berg
Nice Berg is what I grab when one hand is not enough.
It takes the dense, slow feel I like in Nice Cube and makes the whole thing much larger. Instead of squeezing it between a few fingers, I can use both hands and really compress it. The sensation feels deeper because there is simply more material moving around inside.
I also like it as an object. The translucent blue body looks a little like a chunk of ice, so mine spends most of its time sitting out rather than being thrown into a drawer.
The size is also its main disadvantage. Nice Cube and Gumdrop can disappear into a bag without much thought. Nice Berg takes up enough room that I would rarely bother carrying it anywhere.
For me, it is a home squishy. I use it when I specifically feel like sitting down and squeezing something substantial rather than when I need a small fidget beside my keyboard.
Which One Would I Pick?
Nice Cube is still my favorite overall because it works in almost every situation. Gumdrop is better when I want something small enough to carry with me, and Nice Berg wins when I want more resistance and something I can use with both hands.
Cloud Pleaser is the least practical of the four for me, but probably the one I enjoy looking at most.
I don’t think there is one NeeDoh texture that is automatically better than the others. The biggest difference is what you want from it. For something I can keep beside me all day, I keep coming back to the Nice Cube.
